Harvest is now behind us with memories of the bounty of nature and the produce that we depend on. Our Harvest Lunch, thank you very much Sara, raised in excess of £700 for the Methodist Relief and Development charity All We Can. As we move deeper into autumn, our focus turns towards remembering those who have died; family members, friends, neighbours, those unknown to us personally but who gave their lives in the service of the country. In addition to the Remembrance Service on 9 November beginning at 10.45am to allow for the silence, there will be a Service of Remembering at 4pm on Sunday 2 November for everyone who wishes to remember loved ones. 30 Years On project We also move on with the improvements to our premises with the installation of power assisted doors in the context of increased accessibility and the replacement of light fittings with LEDs to further improve our eco standing. There remains the need to zone the radiators to reduce heating costs and prevent wasting heat and so more fund raising is needed. Fundraising events Murder Mystery Play: there will be two performances of ‘This Business of Murder’ on Friday 31st October at 6 pm (with a two course meal, ticket £20) and Saturday 1st November at 2.30 pm (with plated refreshments, ticket £15). The u3a Crafties group are holding a sale in aid of the 30 Years on project on Thursday 30th October from 10 am – 12 noon in the Linkway. Do come and see what they have made! Great for Christmas presents. The next Cake Days are Thursdays 23 October, 13 and 27 November. And the Dovetail Café on Saturday mornings continues to offer bacon rolls! |
